Are there any preparations I need to make before my appointment?
It is best not to eat for at least 90 minutes before your massage treatment, and only a light meal at that time. This is a similar process to swimming or work out when your body will take all the blood away from the digestion process and take it to the working peripheral tissues therefore causing poor digestion and possible discomfort.
What can I expect when I go for a massage appointment?
Expect a relaxing experience. Please arrive 10 minutes early on your first visit, as you will need to complete a confidential health history form. Your therapist will go over your health history form with you and determine your treatment needs and goals, then will step out so you may undress and get comfortable on the table under the sheets. Your therapist will inform you when your session is over and leave the room so that you may dress in private.
What is your cancellation policy?
It is important that you notify us at least 24 hours in advance in the event that you are unable to make your scheduled appointment. This will allow us to place someone else in your time slot. If you fail to give advance notice of your cancellation, the full fee for your session will be charged. This policy is not to be punitive, but as we are sure you can appreciate, it is essential to remain in business. The charge may be waived due to unusual circumstances at the therapist's discretion. Thank you for your consideration.
Must I undress for my massage?
Techniques performed during massage are received best with skin contact. Massage therapists are required to cover/drape you with a sheet so that they expose only the area which they are working on. However, you do not need to expose yourself in any way that you are uncomfortable.
What if I am uncomfortable with my body?
It is possible to work on a client who is dressed. So just let your therapists know your comfort level.
I bruise easily, can I still get a massage?
It is important to let your massage therapist know. Massage therapy is not recommended for people who suffer from hemophilia.
Am I expected to talk during the massage?
You are neither expected to talk nor expected to remain silent. This is up to your discretion, so we can provide you with a comfortable experience. The therapist may, however, require verbal feedback pertinent to the treatment.
Feel free to ask questions before, during, and after the massage. Please keep your therapist informed of your comfort level and whether you desire lighter or firmer pressure during your session. Every body is different, we appreciate and respect all forms of feedback.
How will I feel after my massage?
The majority of our clients are very relaxed; some feel a decrease in long-term aches and pains. Some feel sluggish, and many feel enhanced energy and sense of well-being. Clients who received deep tissue/intense clinical work may experience discomfort within the next 24 hours. Above all else, it is very important that you drink plenty of water after your massage to ensure that you flush out any toxins released in your body. Proper hydration will also ensure that the positive effects of your massage stay with you longer.
If I have a specific medical condition, can I still receive a massage?
Thorough completion of the Client Intake Form and communication of updated medical information prior to each session is crucial as it informs your therapist of any health issues. If you are under a health care provider's care, it is advisable that you receive written approval for massage. We are always happy to stay in communication with your physician to ensure your are receiving the best possible treatment for your condition.
